Does Creation have magnets?

Talk about anything relating to the AoE game right here.

You seem to missing the point entirely. Does a null essence grenade work similar to a EMP would IRL? Sure.

Does it operate by a magnetic field which shorts out electricity? No. It works by will and essence combining to create magic and its effects. The whole point of these posts is that you need to use the appropriate themes and flavoring when describing it in order to be thematic to the world. This means that essence can replicate many things that you think of as electricity, but it can also do much much more.

It makes weapons lighter, but only in the hands of the person who's essence it is. It can create fire that doesn't burn the user. It can make human lungs breath water. It can mutate the body, and heal the body without need for technology in between. It can make things out of nothing. It is at once both electricity and magic. Unlike electricity it doesn't follow laws of physics, and it can often times follow no laws at all. Dragon lines full of it flow through the ground without conductors and it responds to the will of those strong enough to use it.

To make essence into electricity diminishes it in the setting, because it is so much more than electricity.

In general, Exalted does not rely on science as much as it does on *magic*. It might look like an engine, but it's fueled by prayer and maintained by smoke of incense and sunlight. Not a wrench and some oil.

Sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic, and sometimes the other way around.

One of my favorite bits is that Lightning, while its own element if Autochthons poles are accurate, is often generated by Air elements, but the two are actually different things.

I am sure I have seen lodestones mentioned at least once in the books somewhere. I will report back if I can locate the passage.

Perhaps Lodestone Reckoning manner from MoEP Lunaars?

You sure they aren't rocks with little pieces of gravity trapped inside?

Gravity must be a name for Gaia's "attraction magic."

If this is the case, then other sources of gravity could be used for love potions, or for magics/artifice that allow people to interact with things at a distance, or draw them to you.

Gravity is two things: a Primordial Law that dictates things must fall towards Creation's surface, and the efforts of the Pattern Spiders in enforcing that law and dictating the direction of "down". Other realms feature some kind of gravity for related reasons: Yu-Shan was modeled roughly after Creation's laws for the Primordials'/gods' convenience, Malfeas still enforces Primordial Laws on his own, Underworld is a reflection of Creation, and so on. The Wyld, unbound by such things, only occasionally has similarities to "gravity", and that's likely because a lot of stories include it one way or another - the farther out you go, the more likely to find yourself in an Escher-esque or weightless environment.

That said, I really like the notion of utilizing the attractive qualities of that old Law and re-purposing it for effects such as Attraction Potions and the like.

*nods* As I see it, One has a magical essence that equates to down, so it inherently applies the fundamental laws of creation and the effects of the Loom of Fate that are applicable in an extremely strong way. The other has a magical essence that equates to 'is drawn down.'

It is not difficult to get into the magic-ese of exalted if you let loose a little. If all else fails, consume your favorite mind-altering substance and then watch high speed episodes of MLP, Dragonball-Z, Teletubbies, or black-and-white episodes of Popeye the Sailor cartoons.
